The Honda Activa electric scooter is all set to be unveiled on 27 November. The Japanese company has rolled out invites for the event and going by the words “Watts ahead” it leads us to believe that their first electric scooter will finally break cover.
The Honda Activa electric scooter has been under development for a while and as we’d reported previously, it will leverage the ICE platforms to ensure the cost of development is not high while also enuring less time taken to develop the scooter for the market.
Word is that the Honda Activa E will have the performance of the Activa 110 while the range should be in the range of 100km. The scooter may have fixed batteries, similar to the competition. That said, the possibility of removable batteries cannot be ruled out.
As for the chassis, expect the frame to be designed in a way that space is optimised cleverly to include the battery and motor. The scooter should have a telescopic fork at the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking should be taken care of by a disc brake at the front and drum at the rear.
The first electric scooter by Honda India has taken its own sweet time coming but it’ll be interesting to see how the scooter stacks up against established competition like the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and the Ola S1 range.
