Honda has yet again shown that their strength is someone else’s weakness. The Activa outsold the most renowned motorcycle brand, the Splendor from Hero MotoCorp, in July. It sold 1,91,883 units as compared to 1,65,779 units of the Splendor.
The Activa which has been selling in India since 2001 has been one of the most successful brands in India. The brand is so strong that many customers swear by the name. And that is why there is more than one scooter under this brand – Activa i, Activa 110 and the Activa 125. The Japanese manufacturer has increased their capacity for the Activa due to its demand but some markets still demand few months waiting period. The company has once again increased the production capacity to nearly 2 lakh units a month to meet the demand ahead of the festive season.
"Today, we still have pending order of 60,000 across different models out of which 70 per cent is that of Activa," said Yadvinder Guleria, vice-president, sales & marketing, HMSI.
