The adventure bike segment saw a good growth in the last few years, thanks to the bikes like the Triumph Tiger and the Kawasaki Versys range. The segment will definitely find more takers when Honda launches the Africa Twin in July.
First displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Africa Twin was supposed to be launched few months ago. But the earthquake near Honda’s Hamamatsu plant last year delayed the launch plans. But nevertheless, the adventure bike from Honda is coming this July. This news was confirmed by YS Guleria, vice-president, sales and marketing at the Honda Navi Goa Hunt.
The top official also confirmed that the Indian market will only get the dual-clutch transmission (DCT) version and won’t get the manual variant. The bike will be assembled at the company’s Manesar plant that will help the Japanese manufacturer price the bike competitively.
We’re expecting a price tag between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Africa Twin will compete with the Triumph Tiger 800 XR, Ducati Multistrada, Suzuki V-Strom 1000 and the Kawasaki Versys 1000.
