- Africa Twin to get radar
- Sensors and two cameras can be seen
- Likely to be unveiled this year
Honda is planning to give radar guidance treatment to its adventure bike, the Africa Twin. According to leaked patent documents, the company is equipping it with latest safety guidance system.
The sensor has been placed just below the headlight –something that we already seen on other motorcycles like the Ducati Multistrada and the KTM Super Adventure. But the interesting bit here is that the Japanese manufacturer is also planning to equip the Africa Twin with cameras alongside the radar sensors. It looks like Honda wants to take things to a different level with these cameras as it could be used to gather various vehicle and traffic information like road signs and colour of traffic lights.
The leaked patent pictures also shows a new front mudguard that will make sure it won’t interfere with the sensors when the front suspension is fully compressed. It also looks like Honda might give two rear sensors to this ADV which will be place sideways. The company would want to cover the side area of the bike along with the rear.
We are expecting this Africa Twin with radar guidance system to make its presence felt either later this year or early next year. But we don’t think this feature will be introduced to the Indian variant as it is bound to increase the price of the bike by a decent margin.
