-To begin in Bengaluru
-Mumbai and Delhi to be operational from April 2025
-The Honda Activa e: electric scooter was recently launched in India
The Honda battery swapping stations will be operational in India from 2025 onwards. The first set of stations will be operational in Bengaluru starting in February 2025. This will be followed by stations in Mumbai and Delhi which will commence operations in April 2025. As part of the initial phase, Honda will focus on setting up a dense network of battery-swapping stations in these cities.
These battery-swapping stations will be critical for the success of the Honda Activa e: electric scooter that was recently unveiled in India. The Activa e: has two swappable batteries of 1.5kWh capacity each. Once depleted, these batteries must be swapped with a pair of fully charged batteries from these stations. These batteries cannot be charged in any other way which limits the user to these battery-swapping stations only.
The Honda Activa e: is available in two variants. The top-spec gets a colour TFT with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and music controls. Its swingarm-mounted, 6kW motor propels it to a top speed of 80kmph. It has three ride modes- Econ, Standard and Sport while the claimed range stands at 102km.
The Honda Activa e: goes up against the TVS iQube, Vida V1Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta.
