Honda recently unveiled the CB 650 Scrambler Concept at the 2016 Bangkok Motor Show in Thailand. As the name suggests, this concept is a scrambler version of Honda's popular middleweight roadster.
While the Honda CB 650 in itself is a definitive Japanese modern classic, the CB 650 Scrambler Concept takes its neo-retro character to the next level. Adorning a brown and silver dual tone paint scheme, the CB 650 Scrambler Concept gets the quintessential classic styling cues like a round headlamp, raised exhaust, minimalistic rear, straightbar and an exposed engine. Adding modern touches are LED lamps and DRLs, four into one megaphone exhaust and an electronic dashboard. It also gets several carbon fibre and aluminium bits to add flair to the design. The Y-spoke alloy wheels come equipped with dual-purpose Pirelli MT-60 tyres and petal disc brakes with Brembo callipers.
Unlike the litre-class classic concept, the Concept CB Type II, the CB 650 Scrambler Concept features a liquid-cooled powertrain. Though this model is still an early concept, it shows us the potential of the standard CB 650 model, especially for custom motorcycle enthusiasts. Honda has so far refused to comment whether CB 650 Scrambler Concept will materialise into a production model.
