- Launch likely soon
- The updated model may use the same engine as Unicorn BS6
- Likely to carry a price premium over the BS4 version
Honda is currently updating its product portfolio with the launch of BS6-compliant models. The company has already launched the BS6-compliant Activa 6G, Activa 125, Dio, Grazia 125, Africa Twin 1100, Livo, Unicorn, Shine, SP125 and CD110. The Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand is expected to introduce the XBlade BS6 very soon. Now, dealer sources have indicated that the CB Hornet 160R could also return with a BS6-compliant motor.
Styling cues on the BS6 model are not likely to be very different from the old, BS4 version. Honda may, however, integrate a few changes to distinguish the new model. The changes may come in the form of revised graphics. The BS4 model already packed an LED headlight, and the upcoming version will retain the feature. Honda will most likely update the switchgear on the CB Hornet 160R and introduce the latest hardware to the upcoming motorcycle.
Mechanical specifications would most likely be similar to the BS6-compliant Unicorn. The 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine on the Unicorn 160 BS6 makes 12.7bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm and 14Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. The motor is linked to a five-speed transmission.
The hardware, similar to the BS4 model, will include disc brakes on both wheels while the safety net will comprise of a single-channel ABS. The suspension setup will include telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back.
Expect the Honda CB Hornet 160R BS6 to carry a price premium over the BS4 version. The updated model may carry a price premium of Rs 8,000-10,000 over the BS4 version.
