The Honda CB Hornet 160R has been launched in India at Rs 79,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle broke cover at an event in Goa, which also served as a platform for the launch of the company’s new ‘CB Hornet 160R’ android mobile app that allows customers to book the motorcycle online.
The Honda CB Hornet 160R’s streetfighter character is augmented by the edgy styling, stubby exhaust, wide rear tyre and the butch bodywork. It is powered by a 163cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which is mated to a five-speed transmission. The Honda CB Hornet 160R is offered in two variants – single disc and dual disc with CBS. It will be available in five paint schemes – neo orange metallic, pearl amazing white, sports red, pearl siren blue and pearl nightstar black. Initially, the CB Hornet 160R will be sold only in 21 cities across the country.
The CB Hornet 160R is the 15th Honda two-wheeler to be launched this year and has been positioned in the rapidly growing premium commuter segment. While Honda’s previous attempts at establishing a stronghold in this segment haven’t been successful, this time around the company will attempt to lure customers with the CB Hornet 160R’s aggressive looks and the lucrative pricing. It will lock horns with some well-established players like the Yamaha FZ-S Version 2.0, Suzuki Gixxer and the Bajaj Pulsar AS150.
