Honda recently launched the 2018 CB Hornet 160R in India with a base price of Rs 84,675 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Give or take Rs 10,000 from that price and the market offers bikes in the 150cc-180cc category along with a couple of scooters. Here is what the list looks like-
We start with the CB Hornet’s stable mate, the Honda X-Blade. The bike is based on the underpinnings of the CB Hornet; however, it gets edgier styling and sporty decals. The X-Blade is powered by the same 162cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine as the CB Hornet. This unit produces 13.9bhp and 13.9Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 78,500.
If you want a 160cc motorcycle with a bit more of performance, you could opt for the TVS Apache 160 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS160. Visually, both bikes look similar to their 200cc siblings, although the thinner tyres give them away.
The TVS Apache 160 4V is powered by a 159cc single-cylinder engine that produces 16.10bhp and 14.8Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 81,490. The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 uses a 160cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that delivers a slightly lower 15.3bhp and 14.6Nm of torque. It comes with a Rs 80,627 price tag. Both these motorcycles are more powerful as compared to the CB Hornet 160R.
Also on offer is the Yamaha FZ S V2.0 priced at Rs 83,042. The streetfighter is powered by a 149cc single cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 13bhp and 12.8Nm of torque. Built on the same platform is the Yamaha Fazer FI V2.0 which gets a semi fairing and twin headlamps in the front that distinguishes it from the FZ. It uses the same engine as the latter and is priced at Rs 87,935.
You could also opt for a fully-faired commuter from Suzuki; the Gixxer SF, that is based on the streetfighter Gixxer. At the heart of the bike is a 155cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine which delivers 14.6bhp and 14Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 84,546.
There are three 180cc motorcycles in this list. The TVS Apache RTR 180 is priced at Rs 82,183. Powering the bike is a 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 17.3bhp and 15.5Nm of torque. Bajaj has the Pulsar 180 priced at Rs 81,650. It is powered by a 178cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 17bhp and 14Nm of torque.
The manufacturer also offers a cruiser in this price range in the form of the Avenger Street 180. It gets a laidback riding position and sports a modern appeal thanks to the blacked-out components. It uses a 180cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 15.3bhp and 13.7Nm of torque. The Bajaj Avenger Street 180 is priced at Rs 85,498.
Piaggio is the only manufacturer with scooters in this list. On offer are the Vespa SXL 125 and VXL 125. While the VXL sports a classic appeal thanks to the round headlamp and silver wheels, the SXL variant gets black wheels and a rectangular headlamp for a modern look. Powering the scooters is a 125cc engine that produces 9.9bhp and 10.6Nm of torque via a CVT gearbox. The SXL 125 is priced at Rs 88,313 while you could get your hands on the VXL 125 for a price of Rs 83,789.
All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
