Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that the CB Shine has breached the 50 lakh mark. The 50th lakh CB Shine was rolled off the production line at the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, last week.
The Honda CB Shine was launched in India in 2006 in the 125cc segment. The CB Shine’s conservative styling and promise of good fuel economy has helped draw customers to the showrooms. While the CB Shine was doing pretty well by itself, the addition of the CB Shine SP to the range further boosted Honda’s market share in this space. It is not just India that has taken a liking for this bike, with the company claiming that the CB Shine is the highest-selling 125cc motorcycle in the world.
Honda marked this milestone with the launch of the new BS IV-compliant CB Shine, which has been priced at Rs 60,467 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The CB Shine competes with the Hero Glamour, Yamaha Saluto, TVS Phoenix and the Suzuki Slingshot+ and the recently launched Bajaj V12.
