Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has announced today that they have achieved the milestone of selling 30 lakh units of the CB Shine. The landmark achieving motorcycle was rolled out of the company's production facility at Tapukara, Rajasthan.
The Honda CB Shine has become the first highest selling 125cc motorcycle in India. Apart from reaching this landmark, the CB Shine has become the number one selling motorcycle among the manufacturer's worldwide operations.
Honda developed the CB Shine, a 125cc commuter motorcycle, mainly for the mass market segment in India. The motorcycle is powered by a 124cc single cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 10.12bhp at 7500 rpm and 10.54Nm at 5500 rpm. This motor is mated to a four-speed gearbox.
The Honda CB Shine was launched in April 2006 and helped the two-wheeler maker to achieve a nine per cent market share as the sales of the motorcycle reached 1.17 lakh units in the first year itself. The good demand for the motorcycle made the company produce the motorcycle from both its manufacturing facilities- one in Tapukara, Rajasthan and the other in Narsapura, Karnataka.
Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, HMSI, present at the ceremony said, “We thank our valued customers, business partners and Associates for this remarkable feat. CB Shine is not only number one selling 125cc motorcycle in India but also the world! For the first time ending FY’14, CB Shine has become number one selling motorcycle for Honda Motor Company, Japan worldwide.”
Y. S Guleria, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, HMSI said, “CB Shine has become India’s first ever 125cc motorcycle to achieve 30 lakh unit sales. This reaffirms that CB Shine is a true Winners Choice and is universally accepted by valued customers. We firmly believe customer experience and customer loyalty is priceless and will work to delight our customers in future too.”
