The Honda CB Unicorn 160 which was launched two years ago has seen drastic reduction in sales. The company sold only 751 units in November 2016.
The sales figure for the Unicorn 160 was disappointing in July-September 2016 quarter. The company managed to sell only 2980 units in July, 1841 units in August and 1007 units in September. Dealers said that the customers in the premium 150cc-180cc commuter segment are also looking for great styling, which the Unicorn 160 isn’t able to deliver. In fact, most of the customers who visit the showroom for the Unicorn 160 opt for the CB Hornet 160R. The latter is doing incredibly well for the company, however, the sales for it has slowed down in the last few months as well.
A couple of Honda dealers are ordering minimum units of the CB Unicorn 160 to keep the inventory in check. Some of them are putting their money on the CB Unicorn 150 and the CB Hornet 160R as they are fast selling.
We have checked with Honda if they plan to discontinue the CB Unicorn 160. Honda said they don't plan to discontinue the CB Unicorn 160.
