Honda has announced that the CB Unicorn 160 has breached the one lakh sales mark, just eight months since its launch in the country. By achieving this milestone, Honda seems well on its way to regain its glory in the premium commuter segment.
The CB Unicorn 160 was launched in December last year, as a successor to the highly successful 150cc CB Unicorn. Visually, the CB Unicorn 160 carries influences from the Honda CX-01 concept and gets a muscular design for the fuel tank and the bikini fairing. The CB Unicorn 160 is powered by a 163cc single-cylinder engine, which produces 14.7bhp and 14.6Nm of torque. Despite being more powerful than the CB Unicorn, Honda has managed to make the 163cc mill more efficient than the now discontinued 150cc commuter.
The premium 150cc - 180cc segment has seen a rapid growth in recent years, with Yamaha’s FZ series successfully grabbing the biggest share of this lucrative segment. However, going by these sales numbers, it now seems like the FZ-S has found a tough competitor in the form of the new CB Unicorn 160.
