Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) had earlier disclosed that they would launch a new 160cc motorcycle this year. Here are the exclusive pictures of the motorcycle which is the Honda CB Unicorn 160.
The new Unicorn CB 160 draws inspiration from the CX-01 concept showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The motorcycle looks similar to the current CB Unicorn and Trigger siblings. The bikini fairing that houses the headlamp seems to be carried over from the predecessor. However, the design of the bike is new with many changes setting it apart from the other Honda models. The front fender is revised and the bike comes equipped with a front disc brake. Though the handle-bar is the conventional one, the instrument cluster is completely new. The tank is neatly sculpted and gets compact shrouds. Apart from the Honda wings logo, there is no other stickering on the fuel tank.
The side panels are revised in silver-black embellishment and extend up to the fuel knob lever. The rear panels are also new and come without stickering apart from the 'CB Unicorn 160' badging. This theme has kept the entire look of the bike subtle and neat. The single seat is wide and seems to be comfortable with a singular grab rail at the back. A mono-shock suspension setup can be seen at the rear with a small tyre hugger for the rear wheel. The bike gets a heel-toe-shifter, a fully-covered chain guard, a neatly designed saree guard and revamped tail lamps.
Though there are no specifications from the manufacturer yet, the engine in question might be a single-cylinder 160cc four-stroke mill. This motor should churn out more than 14bhp of power as the current 150cc motor in the Honda motorcycles already produces 14bhp of power and comes mated to a five-speed transmission. The gearbox might be carried forward straightaway to the upcoming bike.
The new Honda CB Unicorn 160 is expected to be a major game changer for the manufacturer as they bet on the product to help them regain their lost spot in the 150-180cc commuter segment in India. The new bike is expected to be more powerful yet fuel-efficient making it have an edge over the other motorcycles. The two-wheeler will go up against the recently launched FZ V 2.0 and TVS Apache RTR 160.
