- Thailand is one of the first markets to get the CB1000R
- Could come to India later this year
- Uses the same motor as the older CB1000R, but has been retuned
Honda has introduced the CB1000R, a neo-retro café racer in Thailand, making it one of the first few markets to get this naked motorcycle.
Unveiled at the 2017 EICMA Show, the CB1000R ditches the typical naked sports bike look and adopts a modern retro styling that is the current flavour. The round headlamp, sculpted fuel tank and the black/silver paint scheme makes the CB1000R a handsome looking motorcycle. While it sports a styling that dates back to a few decades, it does get technologies from the current generation. The CB1000R gets ride-by-wire system, ABS, traction control system, slipper clutch, riding modes and Showa suspension setup.
Powering this motorcycle is 998cc four-cylinder liquid-cooled motor. This motor produces 16 per cent more power and 5 per cent more torque at 143bhp 104Nm respectively. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox which has shorter gear ratios.
Honda currently sells the old CB1000R in India. So we’re expecting the company to bring in the CB1000R to India later this year as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit. It will compete with the recently launched Kawasaki Z900RS, but expect the pricing to be a bit more competitive than the Kawasaki.
