-BigWing is Honda’s premium motorcycle arm
-CB200X is powered by a 184.4cc engine that makes 17bhp
-Will be sold alongside the CB350RS, NX500 and XL750 Transalp
The Honda CB200X is now available at BigWing showrooms in India. This is the first time that a non-premium Honda is being sold in BigWing showrooms. For the uninitiated, BigWing only sells bikes like the Honda CB350RS, NX500, XL 750 Transalp, Africa Twin and the GoldWing.
The Honda CB200X stands to benefit by being available across the entire Honda two-wheeler sales network, improving its accessibility. It also ups the premium quotient of the bike when it is sold next to Honda’s big bikes. That said, it is also likely that Honda has taken this step to enable BigWing dealers to sell more bikes and make up for the huge investment that’s gone into setting up and running these premium showrooms.
The Honda CB200X is based on the Hornet 2.0 and is, essentially, the ADV version of the street naked machine. The ‘ADV’ aspect is, however, limited to the appearance of the bike and there are no mechanical changes. The CB200X has a proper-ADV style fairing, tall windscreen, knuckle guards and a plastic belly pan. It adds to the visual mass of the bike and makes it appear bigger than the Hornet 2.0.
Under the bodywork, there’s a steel diamond frame with a USD fork at the front and a preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at both ends.
Powering the bike is a 184.4cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 17bhp at 8,500rpm and 15.9Nm at 6,000rpm. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The bike is priced at Rs 1.46 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It goes up against the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.
