- It gets Honda’s latest Neo Sports Café styling
- It will be launched in the next few weeks
- Bookings can be done for Rs 5,000
Honda has confirmed its modern-retro streetfighter motorcycle, the CB300R for India. The price of the bike has not been revealed yet but Honda clarified that it will be below Rs 2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). Available via the CKD (completely knocked down) route, bookings for the motorcycle have commenced at the token amount of Rs 5,000. It will be available in two colour options – matte axis gray metallic and candy chromosphere red.
The Honda CB300R follows the company’s Neo Sports Café design language and looks similar to the recently launched CB1000R+. It evokes a retro appeal with the round headlamp while being properly modern, housing LED lights and fully-digital instrument cluster. The chiseled fuel tank and chunky exhaust cannister make it look muscular while the contrast coloured tank extensions make for a nice design element.
Powering the Honda CB300R is a 286cc, four-valve, DOHC, single-cylinder engine that churns out 31bhp of power and 27.5Nm of torque, mated with a six-speed gearbox. Add to this the impressive 143kg kerb weight and it should be a nimble bike to ride. The fuel tank capacity stands at 10litres.
The motorcycle is based on a tubular steel trellis frame and rides on 17-inch front and rear wheels. For suspension, it incorporates 41mm USD (upside down) forks on the front and 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by disc brakes on both the ends and assisted by dual-channel ABS for better safety.
Expected to be officially launched in the next few weeks, the Honda CB300R will go up against the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in India.
