-To be brought as CKD and priced under Rs 2.5 lakhs
-Powered by 286cc, single-cylinder engine
-Will compete against KTM 390 Duke and BMW G 310 R
Honda had unveiled the CB300R globally in the winter of 2017 and the bike is finally arriving in India tomorrow, 8 February.
It will arrive in the country as a completely knocked down unit (CKD) and is expected to carry an ex-showroom price tag of under Rs 2.5 lakhs. Now the CB300R is a street bike with modern-retro styling that replicates the bigger CB1000R which is available in India. It gets a classic-looking round headlamp that has full LED-lighting even on its tail lamp and turn indicators. The sculpted fuel tank and brushed aluminium tank shrouds add to the visual appeal of the CB300R.
Under its ‘Neo Sports Café’ styling is a tubular steel frame that houses a 286cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 31bhp at 8500rpm and 27.5Nm of torque at 7500rpm and is mated to a six-speed transmission. While these numbers are not astounding, the CB300R is a light bike and tips the scales at 143kg. Its 17-inch wheels are suspended from 41mm inverted front forks and a monoshock at the rear. As for braking, the motorcycle uses a 296mm four-pot caliper for the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.
Furthermore, the CB300R sports an IMU which guides the dual-channel ABS for precise front and rear brake force distribution. Honda has also equipped the bike with an LCD instrument console that displays the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and clock.
The Honda CB300R will directly compete against the KTM 390 Duke and BMW G 310 R. In terms of pricing, it will also rival the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in India.
