The Honda CB350 was launched recently and marks the third offering in Honda’s retro line. It borrows loads of elements from the Hness CB350 and the CB350RS. However, the design is notably different and seems to make the CB350 a perfect rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. So, we have compared both these retro-classics on paper.
Design
Both bikes, the Honda CB350 and the Royal Enfield Classic 350 have uncanny similarities. The round headlights, bullet turn indicators, chromed round mirrors, fuel tank shape, large and curved fenders at both ends and even the pea shooter exhaust – all the parts appear very similar in design. Honda has also offered the CB350 front fork covers which also gives the CB350 a beefier fascia, just like the Classic.
Features
The features department on the CB350 and the Classic 350 is quite minimal. However, the CB gets all LED illumination whereas the Classic comes with bulb units all over. Then, the CB350 gets a semi-digital instrument console, emergency stop signal, ABS, Honda Selectable Torque Control, side stand cut-off, and voice control. On the other hand, the Classic get an analogue console with a digital inset, side stand cut off and a Tripper Navigation but as an accessory for an added cost. So, the CB350 scores extra points here.
Engine
Powering the new Honda CB350 is a 348.36cc, air-cooled, engine that makes 20.78bhp and 30Nm. It is linked to a five-speed gearbox. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 draws power from a 349cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder motor that pumps out 20.2bhp at 6,100rpm and 27Nm at 4,000rpm. Both motors have a thorough long-stroke and thumper character, which is quite likeable.
Hardware
The Honda CB350 rides on telescopic front forks and gas-charged twin rear shocks. It gets a 310mm front and 240mm rear disc brake setup with ABS. These are mounted on 19-inch front and 18-inch alloys, respectively. Meanwhile, the Classic too gets similar suspension and brakes but it rides on spoke wheels.
Price
Honda has priced the CB350 DLX at Rs. 1,99,990, and the DLX Pro at Rs. 2,17,800 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the base model of Classic 350 with single-channel ABS retails at Rs. 1.93 lakh and the entry-level, dual-channel trim is priced at Rs. 2.02 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
