- Honda unveils CB400F and CB400X in China
- Smaller versions of the CB500F and CB500X
Honda has taken the wraps off the CB400F and the CB400X at the ongoing 2021 Shanghai Auto Show in China. These are the down-sized versions of the CB500F and the CB500X, amongst which the latter is available in the Indian market now.
These bikes follow the same nomenclature as their elder siblings. While the F is a naked street bike, the X is its touring version. On the styling front, they look nearly the same as their 500cc counterparts, albeit with subtle differences like a redesigned headlamp section. Another important change in the CB400X is the presence of a smaller 17-inch front wheel, as opposed to the 19-inch unit in the 500cc offering. Having said that, both of them look just as sharp and aggressive as the larger siblings.
Powering the bikes is a 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine that churns out 44.2bhp and 37Nm. Although these power figures are lower than the 500s, smaller displacement means the CB400 twins are also marginally lighter. But it’s impressive to see that the feature list remains similar with a fully digital console, all-LED lighting, manually adjustable windscreen and hazard light switch.
Now, these 400cc Hondas will be exclusive for select markets and won’t come to India. But what we may get are the CB500R and the CB500F joining their adventure touring sibling in our country.
