We recently rode the Honda CB500X for a few hours to tell you how the Kawasaki Versys 650 rival is to ride. While you can read the entire report HERE or watch the detailed video on the BikeWale YouTube channel, here we bring to you images of the Honda CB500X from our review.
The Honda CB500X is an adventure-tourer that is part of a family that also includes a faired, naked, and cruiser motorcycle. While the rest of the range is likely to be launched in India sometime soon, the CB500X was the first to make it thanks to the growing popularity of ADV bikes in our country.
Signifying its touring character is the tall windscreen up front which has an angular, full-LED headlamp and small beak-like panel below it. At the side, the CB500X greets you with sharp tank shrouds that cover the slim, 17.7-litre fuel tank. All of it is put together quite well, leaving no room for complaint.
Beside the full-LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp and turn indicators, the CB500X comes with a large negative LCD that displays info like dual trip meters, fuel level gauge, average fuel consumption, as well as a gear position indicator.
Now, powering the Honda CB500X is a 471.03cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine that churns out 46.2bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 43.2Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. And all of this performance is offered linearly with the ability to cruise at 120kmph without much hassle and vibration. To add to the engine’s pleasant nature is the super-slick gearbox.
With a seat height of 830mm, the CB500X is a fairly tall motorcycle. Although thanks to the shape of the seat and fuel tank, it is easy to plant both feet on the ground. It also has a credible ground clearance of 181mm.
The suspension on the Honda CB5000X has been tuned to be soft. It irons out imperfections minor undulations, bumps and speed breakers when riding easy. However, as speeds increase, the rear tends to be too soft and bounces off on bumps. As for braking, the CB500X’s hardware delivers good initial bite and feel.
All said and done, the biggest chink in the Honda CB500X’s armour is its price tag. At Rs 6.87, ex-showroom, its closest rival, the Benelli TRK 502 costs nearly two lakh lesser. And for a small premium you could also get the bigger Kawasaki Versys 650.
