Honda has launched its new middle-weight adventure touring motorcycle, the CB500X, in India. It comes with a price tag of Rs 6.87 lakh which we think is quite steep. If you’re not hell-bent to buy this bike and are open to considering other alternatives, here are other bikes that are more or less similarly priced to the CB500X.
Kawasaki Versys 650: Rs 6.94 lakh
The Kawasaki Versys 650 is present in India for a long time and it is the closest rival to the CB500X, considering its purpose, displacement and number of cylinders. The former comes across as a more attractive package with a larger 649cc engine which makes 64.8bhp and 61Nm. It also gets preload and rebound-adjustable upside down forks up front.
Kawasaki Ninja 650: Rs 6.39 lakh
For a much lesser price than the Versys and the CB, you can bring home the Kawasaki Ninja 650. It is a middle-weight sports tourer that can not only be used for mile-munching but also for spirited corner carving. Besides its 649cc engine, the highlight of the Ninja 650 is its attractive styling inspired by the larger Ninja ZX-10R, full-LED lighting and a full-colour TFT console.
Kawasaki W800: Rs 7.09 lakh
Kawasaki also sells the modern-classic offering, the W800. For those who want an old-school, easy-going machine, the W800 is just about Rs 22,000 more expensive than the CB5000X. It is powered by a 773cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 50.2bhp and 62.9Nm. Moreover, it boasts quintessential retro elements like a circular headlamp, peanut-shaped fuel tank, spoke wheels and chrome-finished twin exhausts.
Triumph Street Twin: Rs 7.45 lakh
Slightly expensive than the W800 but more premium and capable is the Triumph Street Twin. It is a neo-retro roadster with modern elements like blacked-out alloy wheels, frame, engine and side panels. It also gets rider aids like ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, two riding modes and LED lighting. And it is propelled by a 900cc twin which makes 65.03bhp and 80Nm.
