Honda has finally announced that it will start selling the CBR300R from August 2014 onwards. The company has updated the same on their official US site.
Honda will start selling the CBR 300R with a base price of $4,399 (Rs 2.69 lakh) whereas the ABS variant is priced little higher at $4,899 (Rs 2.90 lakh). Cosmetically, the CBR300R looks much better than the CBR250R, thanks to the dual headlights, which are inspired from the former's big brother, the CBR1000RR. It also gets a new silencer which is very bulky and looks very similar to the ones in the CBR500R.
The CBR300R shares the same engine found in CBR250R but has been reworked to increase the engine displacement by 37cc. This engine produces 29bhp and 27Nm of torque as compared to CBR250R’s 25bhp and 22.9Nm of torque.
The Honda CBR 300R was first unveiled at the China International Motorcycle Trade exhibition in mid-October last year. Increase in capacity and reduction in weight of the Honda CBR is definitely an answer to Kawasaki Ninja 250R’s replacer, the Ninja 300R. The Ninja 300R producing 39bhp will continue to be more powerful than the CBR 300R and at the same time, more expensive.
