Honda fans rejoice, the all-new CBR1000RR is almost here. Honda has been teasing us with a number of short ‘episode’ teasers and has also given us a reveal date of October 4, 2016 - the first day of the Intermot show. While the Japanese company has revealed very little in its teasers, leaked spy-shots have almost completely revealed the motorcycle.
The new Honda CBR1000RR will be an evolution of the current model rather than a major overhaul. The bike stays true to CBR design philosophy, with the fairing drawing inspiration from the Light Weight Super Sports concept. The front gets LED lamps to keep it on par in terms of technology with the current crop of litre-class superbikes.
Though the engine retains the inline-four configuration, it will be reengineered to help extract more power. Given that the other litre-class superbikes have already reached the 200bhp mark, we can safely expect Honda to follow this trend or at least be very close. The engine will also be updated to meet the Euro IV regulations. It will also certainly get a more sophisticated electronics package derived from the Japanese manufacturer’s flagship superbike – the RC213V-S.
We can expect the 2017 CBR1000RR to hit our shores a couple of months after the motorcycle hits the production lines in Japan.
