Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade recalled in the US

Honda has recalled the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade and its more performance focused version, the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, in the US. The recall, made due to a faulty fuel filler cap, affects 2,443 bikes.

The fuel filler cap on the affected bikes might have a gap in the seal which could lead to water seeping into the tank. This poses a major safety issue as the water in the fuel tank could cause the engine to stall, malfunction or eventually rust the tank.

To fix the issue, Honda will replace the fuel filler cap on the recalled bikes. If the tank shows signs of water, the manufacturer will replace the fuel pump and fuel injectors. While it will replace the CBR1000RR Fireblade’s steel tank, it would not replace the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP’s titanium tank. 

While the recall will start by 4 December this year in the US, Honda has not yet made an announcement recalling the motorcycles sold in India.
