Earlier this week, Honda took the wraps off their latest offering - the CBR250RR. And though the company stopped short of revealing the complete technical details about this quarter-litre sportbike, reports suggest that the brand new parallel-twin engine churns out 38 horsepower and 23Nm of torque.
Redlining at 140,000rpm, all of CBR250RR’s 38 horses are expected to kick in at 12,000rpm. Considering that the motorcycle weighs just 155 kilograms, we can expect some explosive performance from the CBR250RR. The Yamaha YZF-R3 might benefit from a bigger engine and a higher power output (41.4bhp at 10,750rpm), but it is also the heavier of the two, tipping the scales at 169 kilograms. The Kawasaki Ninja 300 also has one horsepower advantage over the CBR250RR, though it is relatively heavier at 172 kilograms. We can’t wait to put these bikes together to see how it actually translates in the real world.
It is difficult to not get excited looking at the Honda CBR250RR. A successor to the single-cylinder CBR250R, the CBR250RR’s sharp lines, aggressive stance and the promise of road scorching performance make it a motorcycle we eagerly look forward to riding. Honda though, has reputation of keeping the Indian audience waiting for its new products. As such, it might be a while before we actually see this motorcycle in flesh. We can expect the CBR250RR to hit the showrooms by late 2016.
