Honda seems to be working on a streetfighter version of its quarter-litre sportbike – the CBR250RR. Based on the rumours, an Indonesian media house has released a rendering of the motorcycle.
The only difference between the CBR250RR and the streetfighter is lack of fairing. This gives us a better look at the trellis frame, boosting its raw appeal. Other bits like the sculpted fuel tank, twin-pipe exhaust, raised tail section and the alloy wheels are shared with the CBR250RR. It also gets the new fully digital instrument console.
The Honda CBR250RR streetfighter will retain the 249.7cc liquid cooled parallel-twin engine, whichi is mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine delivers 36.3bhp and 22.5Nm of torque. It rides on inverted front forks and a Pro-Link five-step adjustable rear monoshock. ABS is offered as an optional extra.
The Honda CBR250RR is expected to hit showrooms in Indonesia and Thailand in the next few months. It will compete with the likes of the Yamaha MT-25 and the Kawasaki Z250. For the Indian market, Honda has no immediate plans of launching either the CBR250RR or its streetfighter version. It seems like we might have to stay content with the CBR 250R Repsol edition.
