It has been a year since Honda first unveiled the Light Weight Super Sports Concept at last year’s Tokyo motor Show. While Honda has so far been tight lipped about the production version of this concept, rumoured to be christened CBR250RR, Indonesian media has been reporting that this model will go on sale by October, this year.
The Honda CBR 250RR is expected to borrow major design cues from the Light Weight Super Sports Concept, while incorporating finer details from Honda’s current supersport range. Though technical details are sparse, the production model is expected to employ a brand new parallel twin liquid-cooled engine. Rumours suggest that the motorcycle might come armed with a ride-by-wire throttle and switchable riding modes.
The Honda CBR250R was one of the first modern-day quarter-litre sportbikes, though it has been long due for a major update. Honda’s rivals, with their new Yamaha YZF-R25, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC390, have upped the ante in this buzzing market space. The Indonesian market will be one of the first markets to get a taste of the new CBR250RR, while Indian enthusiasts might have to wait till early 2017.
