Honda has recalled 6,954units of the CBR500 and CB500 in the US. The company suspects that some of the motorcycles might be equipped with wrongly manufactured rocker arm shafts that might lead to the bolts to loosen up during the run.
In the event of the bolt loosening, the engine oil might leak and there is a possibility of the bolt coming out completely. With no bolt on, the engine might stall which might eventually lead to a crash. Dealers will get in touch with Honda owners for the recall. If they find any fault, they will replace the rocker arm shaft retaining the bolts, without any extra cost to the customer.
Both, the Honda CBR500R and CB500, are powered by the liquid-cooled parallel-twin cylinder 500cc engine that churns out 47bhp of power and 43Nm of torque. The bikes can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds. The motorcycles have a top whack of 185 kmph.
Honda exhibited the CBR500R at the recently concluded Auto Expo. The company confirmed that they would not launch the motorcycle in India this year. The motorcycle might be introduced in our country after the launch of the CBR650F next year. We can expect the CBR300R to get preference to the half-litre elder sibling.
