Honda will showcase the CBR500R at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and it is likely to be joined by the CB500F and the CB500X. The official Twitter page of India’s largest biennial motor show has posted a picture in this regard confirming at least that the CBR500R will be showcased.
Honda in November 2012 had announced a new range of motorcycles for this year and had previewed them at the 2013 EICMA. Created to bridge the gap between the 300 and the 600, the CBR500R follows the same formula as its siblings have been doing for the last 15 years. It is powered by a 500cc liquid cooled parallel twin DOHC engine that produces 47bhp and 43Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed sequential via a chain drive.
The CB500F follows the same formula as its ‘R’ spec sibling with the main difference being in overall design. It is a similar story with the CB500X which uses the 500cc liquid parallel twin engine but has been designed as an adventure motorcycle.
We expect that these motorcycles will be launched a few months after the unveiling and will be available in the Indian market via the CKD route with the kits coming from Thailand.
