Honda CBR650R deliveries commence in India

- First units were delivered in Gurugram, Haryana

- It has replaced the CBR650F in India

- Is sold via Honda’s Wing World dealerships

Honda has commenced the nationwide deliveries of its newly-launched middle-weight sportsbike, the CBR650R, in India. The first units of the motorcycle were dispatched in Gurugram, Haryana, through its BigWing dealership which is Honda’s premium motorcycle retail store. The CBR650R is sold via Honda’s 22 Wing World dealerships present in various cities across India.

The Honda CBR650R is the predecessor to the now-discontinued CBR650F. The ‘R’ suffix in the former’s name signifies the racy character which the motorcycle carries in terms of looks, ergonomics and powerplant. The design of the CBR650R is highly inspired by its litre-class sibling, the CBR1000RR Fireblade. The front fascia boasts of an angry-looking twin headlamp setup which houses LED lights while the fairing is much more angular and edgier compared to the CBR650F. Moreover, the sculpted fuel tank blends well with the petite and upswept tail section.

The Honda CBR650R is powered by a 648.72cc, in-line four, liquid-cooled motor which belts out 86bhp at 11,500rpm and 60.1Nm at 8,000rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox which gets an assist and slipper clutch. On the feature-front, the fully-faired motorcycle comes equipped with a fully-digital LED instrument cluster, switchable traction system and a dual-channel ABS setup which comes as standard.

Suspension duties on the CBR650R are handled by Showa’s 41mm upside down forks at the front and a pro-link type monoshock at the rear. Furthermore, braking setup comprises of a pair of 310mm discs with radial calipers at the front along with a 240mm disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. The motorcycle weighs 210kg; 6kg lighter than the ‘F’ version owing to the revised chassis.

Honda has priced the CBR650R at Rs 7.70 lakhs (ex-showroom, pan India). The bike is available in two colour options which include grand prix red and gunpowder black metallic.
