Honda recently updated the CBR650F cosmetically as well as mechanically. And it is now called the CBR650R. We expect the bike to arrive on our shores sometime next year. Here is a detailed photo gallery of the Honda CBR650R.
The CBR650R looks meaner than the CBR650F which is available in India.
Its front end is similar to its bigger sibling, the CBR1000RR and houses full-LED twin headlamps.
The design of the tank is revised, and so is the seat which now allows the pillon seat to be removed.
To complete its aggressive look, Honda has reworked the riding position, moving the handlebar 30mm forward and the foot pegs 6mm higher.
Underneath its skin, the CBR650R uses a revised version of the 649cc, inline-four engine that now produces 98bhp and revs 1000rpm higher.
Braking hardware comprises of twin 310mm discs at the front and a single disc at the rear with an ABS system as standard.
Meanwhile 41mm inverted front forks and a monoshock sourced from Showa make up for suspension duties.
The CBR650R also gets a TFT display in place of the dated twin-LCD instrument cluster on the previous model.
The bike may not have any direct competition here, but it will rival against the lesser priced, parallel-twin powered, Kawasaki Ninja 650 in terms of body style.
