Honda has started the despatch of the first batch of Navi scooters to dealerships. The scooter will be available in a phased manner, with Mumbai customers being the first ones in the country to get a taste of the scooter.
The Honda Navi was launched in India at the 2016 Auti Expo, kickstarting a completely new genre in the Indian two-wheeler market. Designed along the lines of the Honda Grom ‘monkey bike’, the Navi was indigenously developed by Honda's Indian research and development arm. Powering the Navi is a 110cc single-cylinder engine from the Activa, delivering 8bhp and 9Nm of torque through a CVT transmission. The Navi will be available in three body styles - Navi street, Navi adventure and the Navi off-road.
With Honda offering a slew of optional extras for the Navi, customisability is a crucial part of the Navi's appeal. Every Honda dealership will have a separate section set aside for this scooter, aimed at giving the customers an experience of the wide range of possibilities for the Navi's cutomisation.
The Honda Navi is being produced at the Japanese manufacturer's plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan. Following in the footsteps of the CB Hornet 160R, Honda had started allowing customers to book the Navi online through an exclusive mobile application. With over 20,000 app downloads so far, Honda has so far received over 1,000 bookings for the Navi, deliveries of which are expected to commence in early April.
