- XL750 Transalp being considered for India
- Will sit below Africa Twin
- Likely to be launched by year-end
Honda India is contemplating launching their middleweight adventure bike – the XL750 Transalp, in India.
According to our dealer sources, the Japanese brand believes that expanding its adventure bike line-up in the country is necessary. The XL 750 Transalp is expected to cater to buyers not looking to spend more than Rs 20 lakh on-road on the adventure bike. But this plan will go to the floor later due to OBD2 compliance.
Currently, Honda has yet to be able to sell its big bikes like the Africa Twin and the Goldwing in the country, as all bikes, including SKD and CBU bikes, need to be OBD2 compliant. As of now, none of the Honda big bikes are OBD2 compliant. As a result, none of the BigWing showrooms have been receiving any bikes from Honda. The new big bikes are expected to reach the Indian shore by the end of this year as 2024 models.
We expect the Honda XL750 Transalp to have a price tag of around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), making it marginally cheaper than the BMW F850GS and almost Rs 2 lakh cheaper than the Triumph Tiger 900.
