The Honda CRF1000L made its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, earlier this week. During its unveiling, Honda announced its intentions of bringing this litre-class adventure touring motorcycle in the Indian market, as a locally assembled model. The CRF1000L Africa Twin gets signature adventure bike cues like long travel suspension, high-set handlebars and a raised rear section.
The front fairing gets trademark Honda styling and dual LED headlamps, which pay homage to the original Africa Twin from the 1980s.
The tall windscreen and the cowl is an integrated unit and channel the wind from around the shoulders and arms of the rider.
The fully electronic instrument console displays the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, gear position and settings for the electronic aids.
At the heart of the Africa Twin is a 998cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which develops 84bhp and 98Nm of torque.
Customers can specify the Africa Twin with either a six-speed manual or a dual clutch DCT transmission with paddle shifters.
The Africa Twin rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels, which can be equipped with different types of tyres according to the terrain.
The upswept two into one exhaust blends in with the raised rear section in characteristic CRF style. The tail lamp integrates LEDs.
To improve its touring abilities, you can customise the bike with knuckle guards, panniers, centre stand, heated grips and crash bars among others.
Braking hardware comprises of dual 310mm discs with four-piston callipers at the front and single 256mm disc with one-piston calliper in the rear.
