- Six-cylinder modern-retro from Honda coming soon
- Design patent reveals plenty of production model cues
- Could be unveiled at 2018 Intermot or EICMA
Honda is developing a six-cylinder motorcycle with modern-retro styling. The design patent images of this upcoming bike have been leaked online.
While the leaked images are in black and white format, there are a few things that makes us believe that the basic structure and design of the bike will resemble the production model. This indirectly means that the bike in the images isn’t a concept model.
There’s a high chance Honda is paying tribute to the 1978 CBX with this new motorcycle. The frame format, presence of six-cylinder motor and the overall styling matches the 1978 model. But it has also been tempered with several modern features. The bike is equipped with LED headlights, ABS and Moto-GP styled winglets placed on top of the radiator.
The bike also sports a clutch-lever, so there´s no likelihood of Honda’s DCT gearbox making its way to this bike. Although there’s no information of the official displacement or the power figures, the presence of massive wider tyres suggest that the performance will be phenomenal. This Honda is also equipped with rear-view mirrors, number plate holder, reflectors.
We’re expecting Honda to unveil this motorcycle later in the year, either at the Intermot or EICMA. In fact, we think this bike will take the centre stage.
