Honda has silently withdrawn the CBF Stunner from its Indian line-up. Though the motorcycle is still listed on the manufacturer’s official website, reports suggest that depleting sales have forced Honda to discontinue the model. Around 16 months ago, Honda had to knock-off the fuel-injected version of the motorcycle, the Stunner PGM-Fi, from the line-up due to the lack of demand and now, the carburetted version of the motorcycle has also met the same fate.
The CBF Stunner was launched in the Indian market in 2008 and with it, Honda added some much-needed flair to the commuter segment. While the semi-fairing did make it an attractive motorcycle, the poor efficiency and performance numbers failed to attract commuters or enthusiasts. The high sticker price didn’t help its case either.
To add to Honda’s woes, Hero MotoCorp, shortly after its split with the Japanese manufacturer, launched the CBF Stunner’s duplicate, the Hero Ignitor, at a very competitive price tag. Honda did update the motorcycle with new paint schemes and some other cosmetic updates, though the sales of the motorcycle failed to pick up again.
There isn’t any word from the company on whether they are planning to introduce a replacement for the CBF Stunner. The company maintains that the CBF Stunner is still available on order, though some dealerships have stopped selling the motorcycle.
