- Honda’s cruise control patents leaked
- To feature on Gold Wing and Africa Twin
- Is likely to be introduced soon
The Honda Gold Wing will come with Radar Adaptive Cruise Control soon, leaked patents have revealed. The tech is also expected to trickle to the Africa Twin adventure-tourer and we wondered why it didn’t happen sooner…
With Ducati offering the tech on its Multistrada V4, KTM on the 1090 Super Adventure R and Kawasaki with the upcoming H2 SX, Honda is late to the party. However, to make up for it, Honda has added a rear-mounted radar system for even precise blind-spot detection. While the patents do not reveal where the system will be fitted, we can expect it to be on the tail section, so it could work even sans the Gold Wing’s top rack. That said, this update would also result in an updated instrument cluster to display the radar warnings.
What’s more interesting though is the rumour that Honda could be looking to equip the Gold Wing with a HUD (Heads Up Display). While these features would make the Gold Wing and the Africa Twin safer, it also seems like the technological gap between cars and motorcycles is closing with each passing day.
We can expect Honda to make an announcement about the Cruise Control updated motorcycles sometime later this year with their India launch a couple of months later.
