Honda has recalled its flagship tourer, the Gold Wing in the USA due to a faulty airbag inflator. This recall is part of the on-going set of recalls that affect vehicles equipped with Takata airbags.
The bikes that have been manufactured between the years 2009 to 2016 have been affected by this recall. According to the US safety association, the air bag inflators may explode due to exposure to high humidity and temperatures. Even though the recall affects only 960 units, it is the third time Honda has issued a recall for the Gold Wing, thanks to Takata.
To remedy the situation, Honda will notify affected Gold Wing owners, and dealers will replace the air bag module, free of charge. However, the recall does not affect the 2018 Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour as they do not use Takata made airbags. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) did not confirm if the recall affects the motorcycles sold here.
