- Honda Hness CB 350 scrambler rumoured to be on the cards
- Could come equipped with a high-set exhaust, spoke wheels and knobby tyres
After the Indian mid-size modern classic segment being ruled by Royal Enfield for years, various other manufacturers have now started venturing into this territory with their own offerings. One such brand is Honda, which launched the H’ness CB 350 in October this year. Now, an online rumour suggests that the Japanese bike maker will utilise this 350cc platform to spawn a scrambler-styled motorcycle for India and overseas.
The speculation comes from a Japanese online media house which has also rolled out its own idea of the CB 350-based scrambler in the form of a render. It looks quite believable given the fact that most of the elements such as the handlebar, fuel tank, seat and fenders are the same as the H’ness CB 350. Showing its scrambler intentions are the spoke wheels shod with knobby tyres, fork gaiters, headlamp casing and, most importantly, the high-set exhaust similar to British scramblers.
The scrambler will perhaps borrow the standard CB 350’s engine without major changes. It’s a 348.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor which churns out 20.78bhp of power and 30Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. The bunch of modern features such as the full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled console, traction control and slipper clutch might also be retained in the scrambler.
This doesn’t come as a huge surprise as Honda itself had hinted during the H’ness’ launch that more models might be rolling out based on this platform. Now, it remains to be seen if Honda turns this rumour into a reality and how long will it take to do that.
