Honda has inaugurated a newly renovated children’s traffic park in Chandigarh. Located in the Sector 23 of the union territory, the traffic park is the first of its kind in Punjab and Haryana, and aims at raising traffic awareness about safe riding habits for two-wheelers.
This traffic park in Delhi is the sixth traffic park in India, which is maintained by Honda. The Japanese manufacturer has so far trained over 1.2 lakh people over the safe use of motorcycles and scooter through this medium. The traffic park has special zones which replicate real-life riding conditions in a controlled and secure environment and strikes a proper balance between practical riding experience and theoretical knowledge about safety and riding rules. It also has a virtual riding simulator which replicates over 100 dangers on road and is suitable for people over 13 years of age. For those below the age of 13, Honda has an imported CRF 50 motorcycle to help them train. Honda has also arranged for dedicated female instructors to help train the women on riding.
Speaking during the opening of the park, Mr Yadvinder S. Guleria, VP, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Honda observed that large number of females want to learn riding in a safe and organized set-up so that they can ultimately become independent. For instance, over 2,000 females learnt safe two-wheeler riding within 22 days in Delhi. Children too are very enthusiastic learners and effective ambassadors of road safety in their family. Taking this learning further, Honda will provide a Lifetime Safety Education to all age-groups in Chandigarh with a special focus on women and children.”
