Honda has inaugurated its third manufacturing plant in India today. The new facility is spread across 96 acres and is situated at Narsapura Industrial area, Karnataka. The Narsapura plant will employee approximately 4500 workers and will commence operations next month.
Built at an investment of Rs 1350 crores, the Honda’s new plant will have production capacity of 12 lakh units in Phase 1 and will increase annual capacity to 18 lakh units by the end of fiscal year. Honda has designed its third factory with a concept called “Joy to the Next Generation” which will help to reduce total energy consumption during production. The company has been able to meet 30 per cent of its annual water demand by internal rain harvesting system. The new plant will initially produce the Dream Yuga motorcycle and will be later accompanied by the Activa scooter.
