Honda India has reported that its overall sales grew by 17 per cent in July 2016. The company sold 4,53,844 units as compared to 3,89,55 units in July 2015.
Interestingly, this is the first time the Japanese manufacturer managed to cross the 4.5 lakh sales mark in a month. And things don’t just stop there. Out of the total sales, the scooters sales mark stood at 3,09,144 units – the first time the scooter sales crossed 3 lakh mark. This was obviously due to strong demand for the Activa range of scooters. The Japanese maker also claimed that July 2016 is when it managed to export the highest at 24,317 units. Honda’s motorcycle sales grew by 7 per cent from 1,12,096 units to 1,20,383 units in July 2016.
“July has been a historic month for Honda 2Wheelers India. The new capacity of our fourth plant has given us wings to not only grow faster than the industry, but create 4 records in one month. Crossing the 4.5 lakh unit sales mark in July’16 and growing at 21 per cent nearly double that of the total two-wheeler industry in the first 4 months of FY’16-17 gives us more confidence of a bumper festive season ahead," said YS Guleria, senior VP, HMSI.
