Honda India may launch a new scooter on June 12

Honda may launch a new scooter in India on June 12. The company had mailed us a teaser invite to that had the words ‘ready to fly?’ with a butterfly image in the background. The butterfly image indicates that it’s a scooter and might be mainly targeted towards the fairer sex.

We are expecting the upcoming scooter to be powered by a new 125cc engine and this may become their flagship scooter.  Currently, there are no 125cc scooters in the Japanese maker’s portfolio and it is likely that the company is trying to fill the void by this new scooter. 

Honda would want to fill in the untapped segments by their product which makes business sense. It is important for any company to have a 125cc scooter in their portfolio because in a country like India, where lot of consumers prefer to use a scooter for daily travelling. A 125cc scooter will offer them more power and torque making it easy to commute on our unpredictable Indian roads.

Once launched in India, the scooter will compete with the other 125cc scooters like the Access and the Swish from Suzuki, Mahindra Duro, Rodeo DZ and the Vespa LX 125 of which the last one is a premium vehicle.
