Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has taken the art route to educate young children and consumers about road safety and responsible riding. The company roped in Padma Shree awardee and world famous sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik to create a sand sculpture “Safety for Everyone” on Puri beach.
This sculpture stands tall at nine feet and has a width of 22 feet and took around two days and 10 tons of sand. The Japanese manufacturer has been promoting safe riding in the country very aggressively since last many years. It launched two traffic parks in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack this week, where school children aged between 5 and 12 can participate in various activities including riding a Honda CRF 50 motorcycle. Youth above 18 will be given theoretical sessions.
"From more than a decade, Honda has been promoting safe riding activities across India. The basic issue is not only infrastructure but mindset of the road users. That is why a sea change cannot be brought overnight. It requires active participation from the Corporate, Government, and society at large. As a good corporate citizen Honda understands its responsibility to contribute towards road safety promotion, keeping in mind the Indian traffic conditions and this Park is a significant step towards meeting our commitment of making Safe Riding an everyday habit of all two wheeler riders," said Yadvinder Guleria, vice president, sales & marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
