Honda is all set to launch the 125cc version of its highest selling scooter, the Activa in next few weeks. With this launch, it will be Japanese manufacturer’s first 125cc scooter in India since they started they began local operations in 1999.
The new Activa will be powered by a 125cc air-cooled engine and is expected to produce 10bhp and 10Nm of torque. The scooter is sure to get the Honda Eco Technology (HET) that will help it deliver good fuel-efficiency. This technology is now a standard feature across the Japanese two-wheeler maker’s range of commuter vehicles.
The upcoming Activa 125 will compete with the Suzuki Access 125 with respect to the engine capacity. But pricewise, the Suzuki Access (which is has a 125cc engine) is more expensive by just Rs 700 as compared with the Activa (which has a 110cc engine). The 125cc Activa is expected to be launched just before the Indian festive season and will be priced Rs 6000 to Rs 8000 above the Activa.
The Honda Activa has been a game changer in the Indian two-wheeler Industry. When all the other manufacturers were shifting their focus from scooters to motorcycles, Honda decided to play big in the scooter segment with the launch of the Activa. And now with the Activa 125, the company is expecting to gain additional market shares and sales and at the same time extend its ‘Activa’ range of models.
