Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will launch the Africa Twin in the Indian market sometime next year. Interestingly, the company plans to launch the six-speed DCT variant in India and not the manual six-speed one.
This news was confirmed by YS Guleria, senior VP, HMSI at the opening of its 100th best deal outlet in Mumbai. While the top honcho didn't give any reasons why the Japanese manufacturer wants to introduce the Africa Twin with dual-clutch transmission (DCT) in India, we believe it wants to get the top-spec model only for the Indian market. Just like the CBR650F, the African Twin will also be assembled in India and that means it will be priced competitively.
In the markets like Europe and US, the Africa Twin is available with both the transmission options because the adventure bike segment there is matured. Once launched in India, the Africa Twin will have to compete with the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, Suzuki V Strom 1000 and the Kawasaki Versys 1000.
