If Hero MotoCorp stole the show at the 2014 Auto Expo, it’s Honda now, trying to do the same thing for the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. The company will be unveiling six new models at this biennial event.
The first one being the Navi, which the company claims will create a new segment in the Indian two-wheeler industry. While the Japanese manufacturer is tight-lipped about this new model, it has started marketing this model in the newspaper already, obviously, without revealing much. The second model is an adventure, which we think is the new Africa Twin. Why do we say this? Because at the launch of the CBR650F a couple of months ago, the company did mention about its plan to enter the adventure market and our best guess would be the Africa Twin. This adventure motorcycle has whipped up a lot of storm in various markets and over the last couple of months, there has been a tremendous growth in this segment, thanks to the Triumph Tiger range. But we would love to see the CB500X as it is more affordable and makes more sense for the Indian market.
The last four models will be mere facelifts of the company’s existing range. These facelifts will be in terms of meeting the next BS IV emission norms and few cosmetic changes. Other than these models, Honda will also showcase two new concept models, which we believe, will eventually make its way to the production line. The Japanese manufacturer will also showcase the Neowing –a three-wheeled hybrid scooter and the famous EV-Cub concept. For racing enthusiasts, the Japanese manufacturer will have the legendary RC213V on display.
We’ll be there at the 2016 Auto Expo to bring you detailed coverage. Stay tuned to BikeWale.
