- Recall issued for bikes produced between February-October 2022
- Affected bikes may have incorrect ECU programming
- The launch control system could malfunction
Honda has been issuing voluntary recalls for multiple models not just in India but also globally over the last few months. The recent one has been announced for the Africa Twin adventure tourer which is in line with the global market action.
Certain units of the Africa Twin manufactured between February 2022 and October 2022 are a part of this recall. The exact number of affected motorcycles has not been released by the company. As for the reason for the recall, the ECU of the affected motorcycles may have a programming glitch which can hamper the throttle action. The wheelie control may get abruptly activated during acceleration thereby causing a loss of balance in some cases.
The corrective measure will involve updating the ECU of these bikes with the correct programming. This will be executed free of cost at BigWing Topline dealerships irrespective of the warranty status of the vehicle. Africa Twin owners can check whether their motorcycle is a part of this campaign by submitting their unique vehicle identification number (VIN) on the official BigWing website.
The latest version of the Honda Africa Twin is available in two variants in India – Manual and DCT that are priced at Rs. 16 lakh and Rs. 17.55 lakh, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom).
