Honda has announced a 32 per cent growth in domestic sales in February 2018. With sales of over 4.89 lakh two-wheelers in the last month, the company has cemented its position as the country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
Of the overall domestic sales, scooters make up for more than 65 per cent of sales. The company sold 3.25 lakh scooters in the last month, along with 1.64 lakh motorcycles. The scooter sales grew by 30 per cent over February 2017, while the motorcycle sales jumped by 37 per cent. Apart from the 4.89 lakh two-wheelers sold in the domestic market, Honda exported 30,144 two-wheelers to its global markets in the last month. This number is 28 per cent higher than what the company had managed in February 2017.
The Activa continues to be the highest selling model in the company’s line-up, while the CB Shine is the top-selling motorcycle. Last month, Honda unveiled the new Activa 5G featuring LED headlamps and a few other cosmetic changes. Once it is launched, we should see a significant jump in the sales numbers of the Activa, which should cement its position as the highest selling two-wheeler in the Indian market.
